Braille Book About Snow

I actually got this idea after seeing a kindergarten student project on the wall at one of the schools I serve. You mix half shaving cream and half Elmer's glue together. When it dries, it creates this puffy, soft texture. The only issue is that it isn't cold, but I think it is a good texture to use for creating "snow". It is also a lot of fun for students to paint with. My preschool braille learner created a story about snow using this.
Materials:
- Card stock,index cards or braille paper
- Shaving cream
- Elmer's glue
- Bowl
- Spoon
- Thick paint brush
- Brailler
- Markers
Procedure:
- Mix half Elmer's glue and half shaving cream together in a bowl. It will become very fluffy. It doesn't have to be exact.
- If making a book, make sure to have student braille the words on the page first, then paint on the "snow". You may want to create a barrier for them using Wikki Stix.
- Allow to dry over night.
- Let them read their story and tactually explore the "snow".
