Tara Mason
Tara Mason holds a Ph.D. in Special Education specializing in visual impairment and assistive technology. She currently works with a school district in the Boulder Valley as the Lead Assistive Technology and Written Language Program Specialist. Additionally, Tara works with the Perkins School for the Blind as an educational consultant for the Common Core State Standards and eLearning professor for a course regarding transition issues in K-12 educational programs for students who are blind, visually impaired or multiply-impaired. She previously worked with Texas Tech University’s TVI teacher certification program in the capacities of university supervisor, teaching and research assistant.
Tara has been invited to facilitate professional development nationwide regarding assistive technology and the new Common Core State Standards. She has previously worked as a TVI at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired for several years. Additionally, Tara is a certified special education and English Language Learners teacher. She is the founder and lead consultant for New Tech for Ed, an assistive technology consulting company facilitating professional development and program evaluation of technology programs for students who have visual and/or multiple impairments (www.newtechfored.com).
