Anna Swenson
I am a retired teacher of students with visual impairments with 34 years of teaching and 10 years of consulting in the Fairfax County Public Schools, Fairfax, VA. During my career, I had the opportunity to work with numerous braille learners in both itinerant and resource room settings. My passion is teaching reading and writing to young children who use braille. In 2016 I published the second edition of my book, Beginning with Braille: Firsthand Experiences with a Balanced Approach to Literacy. Currently, I am a member of the team that is revising Building on Patterns, a curriculum developed by the American Printing House for the Blind that is designed to teach braille literacy skills to children in preschool through grade 2.
