Perkins Smart Brailler

Smart Brailler

The Perkins Smart Brailler uses technology to offer new ways to teach and learn braille.  It has a small computer screen attached to the front, which shows in print the letter that has been brailled, while also providing auditory feedback.  This allows someone who does not know braille to work directly with a child learning braille, which can be helpful for parents or general education teachers. It also provides auditory feedback, so that students will be reinforced for writing a letter or word correctly, or be alerted when they have made a mistake.  A menu allows users to select exercises with lessons for beginning braille students.
