Mobile for Students with CVI
Submitted by Rachel Herrin on May 25, 2015

I made this mobile for one of my students who has a diagnosis of Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) and other significant disabilities. Much like the "sensory space" that I posted here http://www.pathstoliteracy.org/resources/little-room-active-learners, the mobile was intended to encourage independent exploration, looking, and reaching out in hopes of one day grabbing. I also wanted my student to have access to it while in his wheelchair or while laying on the therapy table.
Materials:
-
old hula hoop (provided by our P.E. teacher)
-
red garland (Walmart)
-
star lights: red, yellow, blue, green (Amazon)
-
red glittery circle garland (Amazon)
-
bells (craft store)
-
yarn or string
-
wire hanger
This project cost less than $20 to make.
