Craft Activity for St. Patrick's Day
Submitted by Liz Eagan on Mar 06, 2020
As St. Patrick's Day approaches, I thought I'd share a little of my ancestry with my students. We looked at National Geographic Kids to learn about the day and the shamrock.
I found an online template of a shamrock and then I used a tracing wheel on the back to make a raised line around it.
My younger students decorated a shamrock using the raised image of the shamrock, glue, and green pompom balls.
This was a nice way for me to assess their fine motor skills (picking up one pompom and placing it in the image) and hand strength (squeezing glue out of a bottle) that I could photograph and share with the OT that also works with the student. We were also able to work on counting, patterns, matching, and positional concepts.
