Environmental Adaptations for Preschool Classrooms
Submitted by Charlotte Cushman on Jun 20, 2012
Peg Palmer is a preschool teacher for the Board of Education and Services for the Blind in Connecticut. In this presentation from the 2005 ADVISOR Workshop she describes her approach to environmental adaptations for children who are blind. Ms. Palmer explains that many individuals who end up working the most time and the most directly with young students who are blind have no formal training in the field. The focus of her presentation is on a consultative model, with some direct teaching involved, to help adapt the classroom for a child who is totally blind.
