The Counting Method for the Cranmer Abacus is a new publication available from TSBVI (Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired) written by veteran teachers John Rose and Debra Sewell.
The description on the TSBVI Publications page states: "The Cranmer Abacus is a mathematical tool used for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. For the student with a visual impairment, the abacus is comparable to the sighted student’s pencil and paper and should be considered a fundamental component of math instruction. The Counting Method for the Cranmer Abacus (204 pp.) emphasizes the understanding of place value, outlines the importance of this mathematical tool, and gives step-by-step instructions for completion of sample problems using the counting method."
