Cherokee Language Now Available in Braille
Submitted by Charlotte Cushman on Jul 22, 2014

The Cherokee Nation has worked with the Commonwealth Braille and Talking Book Cooperative earlier this year to develop a Cherokee version of Braille. Dot patterns were derived from the 86-character Cherokee syllabary. The Cherokee writing system has been in use since 1821, but it is only now that Cherokee braille is available.
