Celebrating Braille Literacy Awareness Month

This year for Braille Literacy Awareness Month, we created a packet of information for the School Board and the Superintendent. Pictured are all the items included as well as the two documents that I copied from a website and listed the website at the end.

Students enjoyed creating the cards to give.

The administrators in SPED and the principals on the different campuses received the Helen Keller quote page.

It was nice having the students who require braille to access the school curriculum and curricular materials take part in this activity to bring awareness to them.

My district also uses WorkPlace (very similar to Facebook). I made two posts a week about braille (i.e. what it is, production of it) to the General community. It was nice to be able to reach a larger audience and share information that helps my students succeed.
